About the job
The IT team are a crucial cog in the workings of the day-to-day radiology imaging service Cobalt provides, ensuring that hardware, software and information systems are running effectively to ensure quick diagnosis and reporting of patients’ medical concerns and conditions.
This is an exciting new role brought in to support the growing fleet of mobile scanners at Cobalt and some inhouse systems. Reporting to the IT Manager, you will be working within the wider IT department of seven. Your role will consist of both home-working and visiting our Imaging Centre and various mobile scanning sites across the country. You will work a core 37.5 hours per week with potential overtime for travel and urgent support. Days and timings will be flexible dependent on planned assignments, travel and cover, with occasional weekend work as required with notice.
Your key responsibilities will be to provide first and second line technical support for the day-to-day system management and administration of critical mobile scanner IT hardware, systems and networking to ensure the continuation of the scanning services. It will involve installing and configuring hardware and software on our mobile scanning and support units to allow the services to run effectively. This will involve both home working but also travelling to our sites around the country and some overnight stays dependent on location and assignment requirements. You will also provide support for our clinical systems’ workings throughout the organisation, including RIS and PACS systems at our Headquarters in Cheltenham. As well as the IT department, you will work closely with the mobile radiographers ensuring that their IT is enabling them to fulfil their duties for the scanning services they provide.
The skills, experience and knowledge required for this role are sound educational background and qualifications, strong IT skills, as well as strong communication and organisational capabilities. Experience of working within a healthcare setting would be beneficial but not essential as training will be provided.
Motivation to troubleshoot and resolve issues is a key attribute we are looking for. Being part of a team and working collaboratively within Cobalt as well as with external colleagues will be crucial for this role. You will be proactive and self-motivated with an ability to show initiative are also essential traits.
